The Finance Ministry said that over Rs 30,160 crore has been approved under the Standup India scheme in the last six years.

On 5th April 2016, Standup India scheme was launched to promote at the grassroots level by focusing on financial empowerment and job creation for SC, ST and women entrepreneurs. In 2019-20, the Standup India scheme was extended till 2025.

Over Rs 30,160 crore has been sanctioned in over 1,33,995 accounts in six years under the Standup India scheme, the ministry said in a statement.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her message on the occasion of her sixth anniversary, said, “With more and more beneficiaries of the low-service segment of the industry being targeted for coverage, we will make significant progress towards building a self-reliant India. ” the scheme. He said that so far more than one lakh women promoters have been benefitted by this scheme.
