New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices remained stable for the second consecutive day on Friday. The recent increase of 80 paise per liter came on Wednesday. The price of petrol and diesel has increased by Rs 10 per liter in the last two weeks. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 80 paise per liter on Wednesday, taking the total increase in prices to Rs 10 per liter in 16 days.

According to the pricing notification from the state fuel retailers, the price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 105.41 per liter, while that of diesel is Rs 96.67. In Gurugram, a liter of petrol will cost Rs 105.86, while a liter of diesel will cost Rs 97.10.

 

In Mumbai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 120.51 and a liter of diesel costs Rs 104.77. Petrol and diesel rates in Chennai are Rs 110.85 and Rs 100.94 per liter respectively. Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 115.12, while diesel costs Rs 99.83. In Bengaluru, a liter of petrol will cost Rs 111.09, while a liter of diesel will cost Rs 94.79.

Fuel rates have been raised across the country, and they vary from state to state based on the amount of municipal taxation. Since the end of the four-and-a-half month rate revision interval on March 22, there have been 14 price hikes in 17 days.

 

CNG rates in the national capital were hiked by Rs 2.5 per kg for the second consecutive day on Thursday, taking the total hike since March to Rs 12.5 per kg. The hike in CNG prices comes after a 16-day hike in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 10 per liter and LPG rates by Rs 50 per cylinder.

If crude oil prices remain at their current levels for too long, the Finance Ministry estimates that GDP will slow to 8% in FY13. In its monthly report for March, the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance said that the government is evaluating all possible options, including import diversification, to buy crude at an affordable price.
