Navi Mumbai, April 8 (H.S.). After a thrilling six-wicket win against Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul said it was a complete team effort and everyone did a great job in the match.
Quinton de Kock’s scintillating 80 and Ayush Badoni’s 10 runs helped Lucknow Super Giants beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in the last over at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
Rahul said after the match, “I think we were fantastic with the ball. In Powerplay, we obviously need to work. But powerplay is like that sometimes. We assessed things well after that and bowled better. Nice to see the bowlers discussing the line, length and pace to bowl to after the powerplay.”
Praising young Badoni, Rahul said, “Badoni is getting better with every match, especially under pressure, his batting becomes special. IPL is a great lesson for him, it is important for him to work hard and be humble. So far it has been the effort of the whole team. The way everyone has stepped up is fantastic.”
Batting first, Delhi scored 149 runs for 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Delhi, opener Prithvi Shaw scored 61 runs off 34 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, while skipper Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 39 off 36 balls and Sarfaraz Khan scored an unbeaten 36 off 28 balls. Ravi Bishnoi took 2 and Krishnappa Gautham took 1 wicket for Lucknow.
In reply, Lucknow won the match by scoring 155 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.4 overs. For Lucknow, Quinton de Kock scored 80, captain KL Rahul made 24, Krunal Pandya scored 19 not out and Ayush Badoni scored 10 not out. For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets, Lalit Yadav and Shardul Thakur took 1-1 wickets.
