Sri Lanka is currently facing an economic crisis. Now former Sri Lankan cricketer and great cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jayasuriya is one of the greatest players of his time.

Jayasuriya praised the Prime Minister

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has praised the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending aid to Sri Lanka. He said that you are our wonderful neighbor. They are helping the country like our elder brother. It is not easy for us to survive. I hope things will change soon. We are trying to get out of this situation with the help of India and other countries.

Sri Lanka is facing serious crisis

Describing the situation in Sri Lanka as unfortunate, Sanath Jayasuriya said that people could not survive like this and started protesting. There is a shortage of gas and fuel, sometimes there is no electricity for 10-12 hours. This is a difficult time for the country. Speaking further, Jayasuriya said, “I want to ask people to protest peacefully, not violently.”

Government of India helped

The Indian government has so far supplied over 270,000 metric tonnes of fuel to Sri Lanka to help ease the power crisis in Sri Lanka, which is facing power cuts. The Sri Lankan rupee is depreciating rapidly against the dollar and foreign debt is also increasing. The revenue of the Sri Lankan government has declined, leaving it going through an economic crisis. Former cricketer Jayasuriya further said that people have started protesting against the Sri Lankan government. If people are not treated properly it can turn into a disaster. For the time being it will be the responsibility of the present government.
