new Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore have finally stopped the winning streak of Rajasthan Royals. Batting first in this match, Rajasthan scored 169 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted overs. In reply, RCB lost five wickets for 85 runs. The troubled team once again got the support of finisher Dinesh Karthik, who along with Shahbaz gave the team a 67-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Karthik played an unbeaten 44 off 23 balls in which he hit seven fours and a six, while Shahbaz scored 45 runs. Karthik received the Player of the Match award for his brilliant batting.
“I think I tried my best to prove myself,” he said after the match. Last year I thought I could play better. This time I have been trained even better. I played a good game that I had never played before.
When I came on the field, I wanted 12 runs per over. I prepared myself for such a situation and tried to remain calm. I have played white ball cricket to prepare myself as much as possible in this situation. Many people supported me in this journey, but most of my contributions went unnoticed. I think T20 cricket needs to be considered first and we need to be aware of our goals.
Chasing the target of 170 runs, RCB needed 28 runs in 3 overs at a time and Shahbaz Ahmed eased the team’s trouble by hitting a four and a six in Bolt’s over. The team needed 15 runs in the last two overs, but Karthik easily won the toss. The crucial final run for the win came in the form of a six off Herschel Patel’s bat. RCB are currently at the 6th position with 3 wins.
