Pakistan captain Babar Azam, West Indies’ Craig Brathwaite and Australia’s Pat Cummins have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for their outstanding individual performances in March. Babar scored 390 runs in Test cricket last month and also scored a record 196 runs.
Not a single Indian player was nominated
West Indies captain Brathwaite scored 341 runs at an average of 85.25 in the Test series against England. In the second test, he faced 489 balls and scored 160 runs to draw the match. Not a single Indian player has been nominated in the men’s and women’s categories. Pat Cummins took a total of eight wickets in the third Test in Lahore to guide Australia to a 1-0 series win.
Eccleston nominated for the second time
England’s spinner Sophie Ecclestone, Australia’s run-machine Rachel Haynes and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaert have also been nominated in the women’s section. The winning players will be announced next week. Ecclestone has been nominated for the Player of the Month award for the second time.
