Navi Mumbai : Gujarat Titans, who became the team to beat in their first season of the IPL, will aim to get off to a great start against Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Monday. Three consecutive wins in the IPL have given Gujarat Titans momentum and they showed against Punjab Kings that they can win from any position.

Captain Hardik Pandya will need to showcase his tactical skills against Sunrisers, who earned their maiden win against CSK but are still in the bottom half of the points table. Gujarat have got different match winners in every match, while Sunrisers, who have won after a poor start to their campaign, would like to keep improving with each match.

The focus will be on young Shubman Gill again at the DY Patil Stadium. He is in excellent form and has posted his highest IPL score against Punjab Kings. However, the elegant right-handed batsman will need the support of Matthew Wade, who has the ability to play big shots, and Sai Sudarshan, who played a useful knock in the last game.

In the last outing against Punjab, Rahul Tewatia found his mojo with two sixes and emerged as the match-winner. Titans face death overs specialist Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik’s raw pace, T Natarajan’s yorker and Washington Sundar’s classical off break. Add to that the variations brought in by South African pacer Marco Jensen, the batsmen might face a tough time. Gujarat bowlers on the other hand are right on the money.

Hardik’s four overs can change the color of the game while another fast bowler who can wreak havoc is Lockie Ferguson. Mohammed Shami has also been impressive with the new ball. The other important team at his wheel is Rashid Khan, who is capable of running a riot and can challenge his former team SRH. For Sunrisers, after a failure in the first two games, skipper Kane Williamson has started and will be keen to score a big total against Gujarat.

SRH opener Abhishek Sharma reiterated the faith shown in him and scored a match-winning 75 last Saturday as the team chased down a difficult target of 155 runs in 17.4 overs. He would like to pick up where he left off. Rahul Tripathi’s role will also be important for Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram. All three need to show consistency and show their ability while taking responsibility in the middle order. Sundar has cameo ability. The winning combination of both the teams is unlikely to be tampered with and the toss becomes crucial considering the dew as it has proved to be the case in most of the games.
