Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw said it was a great pleasure for him to open with explosive left-armer David Warner in their IPL 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday. Though Delhi suffered a six-wicket loss, Shaw ensured that Delhi started with a scintillating knock of 61 runs off 34 balls.

Delhi scored 52 runs in the first six overs, 47 of which came off 27 balls by right-handed Shaw.

Warner was playing his first match for Delhi in IPL 2022 and opening with Shaw for the first time in the tournament’s history, watching all the fun from the other end before dismissing leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for four off 12 balls. were. ,

“Warner has been playing international cricket for over 10 years and I have been a fan of the way he hits the ball. I like to hit the batsman for sixes and fours from the non-striker’s end. It was a lot of fun batting him against LSG and once we make good sense, it will be even better to bat with him,” Shaw said on Friday.

After Shaw and Warner fell, Delhi were strangled for runs by Bishnoi and K Gautam in the middle overs. Though there was a 75-run stand between skipper Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan, it was not enough for Delhi to go past their total of 149/3 in 20 overs. Delhi chased down the target till the last over but Lucknow crossed the target with two balls to spare.

“It will take time for all the players to get to know each other on the field. Today we found out what the team can do. Even though we didn’t have enough runs on the board, we fought till the end and everyone was together. We just need to make some small improvements and we will be fine,” Shaw said.

Delhi’s next match will be against table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday. Shaw signed off saying that he would not take any negative view of the loss against Kolkata in Lucknow.
