“Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh met with US Aerospace and Defense majors Boeing and Raytheon after arriving in Washington DC. He called upon companies to take advantage of policy initiatives in India to rapidly march from Make in India to Make for the World. The Defense Ministry tweeted on Monday. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will host Jaishankar and Singh for the 2+2 Ministerial Conference on Monday. To be held in the shadow of the Ukrainian crisis, the 2+2 ministerial reflects the importance that both governments attach to this bilateral strategic relationship.

In fact, President Biden has indicated to elevate the post of 2 + 2 minister himself by holding a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the White House on Monday. Two Indian ministers are set to participate in a virtual meeting from the White House along with their US counterparts. A 2+2 Ministerial meeting with the relevant delegations will be held at the State Department on Monday afternoon. The 2+2 dialogue will enable the two sides to comprehensively review cross-cutting issues in the India-US bilateral agenda related to foreign policy, defense and security, with the aim of providing strategic guidance and vision to further strengthen ties. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release on Thursday.

“The 2+2 dialogue will provide an opportunity to exchange views about important regional and global developments and how we can work together to address issues of common interest and concern,” the statement said. The State Department said last week that the 2+2 Ministerial is an important opportunity to advance our shared objectives within the ambit of the US-India Strategic Partnership. It is also an opportunity to highlight the growing key defense partnership between the United States and India, it said on the importance of the meeting.
