PM Modi and US President Joe Biden will meet today amid Russia-Ukraine war, economic crisis in Sri Lanka and political ups and downs in Pakistan. The meeting between the two leaders will be virtual. It is learned that the meeting can be held between 7.30 pm and 8 pm today. Earlier, the two leaders met during a meeting of the Quad leaders. The meeting is to be preceded by the 2+2 ministerial talks.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the meeting between the two leaders will further strengthen the bilateral partnership. This meeting will pave the way for continued high level engagement between the two countries. The two leaders will discuss recent developments in South Asia and global developments of common interests.
According to the White House, Biden will also raise the issue of Russia-Ukraine war during his meeting with PM Modi. The White House said the consequences of Russia’s “terrible war” would be discussed with Prime Minister Modi. The impact of war on the global food supply will also be discussed.
The US has already objected to India’s stand between Russia and Ukraine. America wants India to limit its ties with Russia. India is still trading oil with Russia and America is upset. America has warned that if India continues to do so, it may have to pay its price. At the same time, America has offered arms to India. It also stipulated that India should reduce its dependence on weapons from Russia.
