The US Geological Survey (USGS) said a 5.7-magnitude quake was recorded near the coast of Taiwan.
An earthquake was recorded at 23:36 GMT on Thursday, 44 kilometers (27 miles) southeast of the city of Hengchun.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.
There are no reports about any victims or damages.
Taiwan is located in a seismically active region known as the Ring of Fire, which is regularly hit by powerful earthquakes. (ANI/Sputnik)
