Lucknow, April 10 (H.S.). Efforts are being made to install an idol of Lakshman, brother of Lord Ram Lalla in Lucknow. The place has been decided by the Municipal Corporation for erecting the idol and the budget has also been released. Lucknow Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia and Municipal Councilor Ramkrishna Yadav are trying to install the statue but the displeasure of Muslim religious leaders is becoming a hindrance.
In the year 2018 in front of the mounded mosque on Bada Imambara road, councilor Ramkrishna Yadav brought a proposal to install the statue of Laxman on the municipal land and politics started regarding this. This became an issue outside the Municipal Corporation and Muslim religious leaders made a lot of headlines in it with their statements. The Shahi Imam of the Teele Wali Masjid, Maulana Fazle Mannan and the Sunni side’s Maulana Sufiyan Nizami raised their voices of protest, which is still in the present position.
Late Lalji Tandon, who had his own identity in Lucknow, had written a book, in which it was told to be Lakshman Tila at the site of the mounded mosque on the inner pages. People reading the book have also been told that the place of Lakshman Tila is a place associated with Lord Ramlala in Awadh. Whereas the old name of Lucknow is Laxmanpur.
Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia has said that the Tikoniya Park in front of the Mound Wali Masjid, which is the land of the Municipal Corporation, has been approved for the construction of Laxman’s statue on it. This idol is to be made 150 feet high.
Shahi Imam Maulana Fazle Mannan said in his statement that there is a protest against the installation of an idol in front of the mosque. The protest has come after huge objections from the worshipers to the installation of the idol in front of the mosque. The reason for this is that praying in front of the idol is not considered permissible. At the same time, this area comes under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
