Ranchi, October 5 (HS). After being made Ranchi DC, IAS Manjunath Bhajantri is once again in the news. After the Election Commission's letter to the state government, Manjunath Bhajantri is preparing to go to the Supreme Court. He has given this information to the government by writing a letter.

The Election Commission has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state and expressed its objection to the appointment of Manjunath Bhajantri as the DC of Ranchi. The Commission says that this is a violation of the High Court order. During the Madhupur by-election in Deoghar district, the Election Commission had instructed the then DC Manjunath Bhajantri to stay away from election related work. Now after becoming Ranchi DC, this issue has again gained momentum.

Here, the Personnel Department has started action on behalf of the government. The Personnel Department has sent all the documents related to the matter to the Chief Secretary. In the coming days, information about the action related to the matter may be given to the Election Commission by the Chief Secretary or the personnel. In the file sent by the personnel to the Chief Secretary, it has also been said that the government should take its own decision on the matter.

It is noteworthy that the Election Commission had removed the then Deoghar DC from the post of Deputy Commissioner on April 26, 2021 due to different figures being presented in the voter turn out up and press conference of the Commission in the Madhupur by-election. After the end of the election code of conduct, the government had ordered to reinstate him on the post of Deoghar DC. About six months later, the Chief Electoral Officer sent a report to the Commission informing that the DC has filed an FIR against MP Nishikant Dubey on charges of violating the code of conduct after the end of the election code of conduct.

The Commission asked the Deputy Commissioner for clarification on this. Since the reply was not satisfactory, on December 6, 2021, the Commission ordered the removal of the Deputy Commissioner and not to post him in election related work in future without the permission of the Commission. After this, on December 23, 2021, the Department of Personnel wrote a letter to the Commission asking it to withdraw its order. Because, the Commission does not have the right to give such an order after the code of conduct expires.
