The entire North India including Delhi-NCR is in the grip of severe cold. Cold has increased in most states due to dense fog. As soon as the Western Disturbance became active on the night of January 10, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in many states today, tomorrow and the next day. Rain with fog is expected in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana. Due to snowfall in the hilly states, the temperature remains below zero, which has increased the cold. Fazilka city of Punjab was the coldest city with a minimum temperature of -2.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.3 degrees Celsius in Karauli, Rajasthan.

According to the alert of the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is active in the form of cyclonic circulation over south-east Iran and surrounding lower and upper parts. A cyclonic circulation is active over lower parts of Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas, due to which Western Disturbance is becoming active and westerly winds along with easterly winds are likely to blow. Due to which there will be light to moderate scattered rain and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region today and tomorrow.
