From Diwali to Chhath Puja festival, common people often have to face long waits in railways. The main reason for this is that in the current system people book railway reservation tickets 120 days in advance. Railways has changed the ticket reservation rules. Indian Railways has made a big change regarding ticket booking. Railways has clarified that from now onwards reservations will be done within 60 days instead of 120 days. And this rule will come into effect from November 1, 2024.

Railways said that from November 1, 2024, the advance reservation period will be 60 days (except the day of journey) and booking will be done accordingly. However, all bookings made till October 31, 2024 under the 120 day advance reserve period will remain intact.

No change in rules for foreign tourists

However, cancellation of booking will be allowed after the advance reserve period of 60 days. There will be no change in case of some day express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express etc. for which shorter time limit for advance reservation is currently applicable. There will be no change in the case of 365 day limit for foreign tourists.

According to the information given by the Railway Board, the facility to book advance railway reservation tickets 365 days in advance for foreign citizens or tourists will remain the same as before. No changes have been made in this. If railway reservation ticket is booked before 60 days then people cannot book the ticket in advance. Agents will also be banned from holding tickets. If you book tickets 60 days before advance booking facility, black marketing will be stopped. However, IRCTC already takes several steps to prevent black marketing of tickets. This also includes the limit on ticket booking.
