Moscow: Ukrainian President Zelensky made a busy tour of 3 European countries. Meanwhile, he was promised arms aid of one million dollars. Against this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that if Ukraine uses weapons on Russian soil, it would be a very disappointing path and NATO countries will have to be ready to bear its consequences.
Putin's warning came after Belgium promised to deliver 30 F-16 fighter jets over the next four years, while the Netherlands promised to immediately roll out Patriot air-defense systems.
It is well known that the Russian army has occupied the northeast and eastern regions of Ukraine with superior weapons. The Crimea peninsula in the Black Sea in the south has been occupied since 2014. It is becoming increasingly difficult for the Ukrainian army to hold out in the face of Russia's massive manpower and advanced weapons. Since February 24, 2022, it has become increasingly difficult for the Ukrainian army to resist the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russia's huge army and powerful warplanes have left Ukraine at the mercy of Russia. The US has also promised arms aid to Ukraine, but that arms aid is coming too late and in inadequate quantities.
When Russian President Putin, who is still in power at 71, went to Uzbekistan, he warned the West that if Ukraine used those weapons on Russian soil (instead of defending itself), the war would escalate into a very serious one.
Ahead of his first visit to the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan since beginning his fifth term as president, Putin directly warned NATO countries that further involvement would be a step away from World War III.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he said that the use of Western weapons is based on Western intelligence. If NATO countries also send their troops there (in Ukraine), they will have to be prepared for the possible consequences.
According to agreements signed by Ukrainian President Zelensky with various countries on Monday, Spain promised to provide Ukraine with military aid worth 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) by 2024. While another 5 billion euros ($5.4 billion) of military (weapons) assistance was promised by 2027. However, Hungary (a member of the EU) objected to providing military aid worth billions of euros to Ukraine.
Russia insists on creating a buffer-zone on the Ukrainian border, to which Ukraine objects. In response, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Fulena said that this is Putin's excuse to disrupt the peace talks taking place in Switzerland.
