Prayagraj, 02 August (HS). In the seminar organized by the Department of Economics of Ewing Christian College on Friday on the topic “Budget 2024: Roadmap for Developed India”, the keynote speaker, Professor Dr. Sunil Kant Mishra of the Department of Commerce, CMP College, said that the government has made announcements in the budget on the basis of the policies and programs of the last 10 years. Which will play an important role in strengthening the infrastructure of the economy. The budget has been prepared keeping in mind the priorities of developed India, which basically maintains the continuity of the policy measures taken by the government in the past years.

He said that the government's new concept of caste classification can have far-reaching effects under which farmers, youth, women and poor have been included and many important steps have been mentioned for their upliftment. He said that it is commendable that in the budget, measures have been discussed to deal with serious problems like climate change in agriculture according to the changing times, while cooperative farming has also been given importance.

Distinguished speaker Dr Harsh Mani Singh said that developed India is a continuous process which includes not only economic issues but also social and other dimensions. For this, all sections of the society will have to be empowered not only economically but also socially and politically, for which small efforts are visible in the budget. He said that after Covid, giving more importance to agriculture, priority was given to the loan facilities of farmers. Still, farmers still lack timely loan facilities. He said that the economy has been strengthened by steps like better transport facilities, strong digital infrastructure, increase in capital expenditure. The steps taken by the government in the last 10 years have led to economic empowerment of women, which is being seen in the form of increase in employment, economic social prestige and improvement in decision making ability in the family.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar Garg, coordinator of Allahabad University National Service Scheme and professor in the Hindi department, said that the general public is affected by the budget. Therefore, the budget is prepared keeping in mind all sections of the society. What is important is to what extent it has been successful in addressing the immediate problems of the society.

Dr. Umesh Pratap Singh, Head of the Department, who was conducting the program, said that policy continuity is the specialty of this budget. In which the budget focuses on increasing employment. But the government is dependent on the private sector. He said that to increase consumption and savings, the government should have provided some tax relief to the middle class. Especially a small tax paying class has been neglected in the budget. However, it is not possible in a single budget that the government can address all the problems of the country simultaneously with the same importance. But there is a need to work continuously at a fast pace on topics like farmers, climate change, education, research and investigation. For which the government has worked but these measures are very little and insufficient.

While thanking everyone in the seminar, senior teacher Professor Vivek Kumar Nigam said that the road map of developed India prepared in the budget is the result of many years and it will take decades to reach its destination. For which all of us citizens will also need to be vigilant. Many teachers and hundreds of students including Tanya Krishna of Economics Department, Head of Hindi Department Dr. Sudeep Tirkey, Dr. Padma Bhushan Pratap Singh and Dr. Gajraj Patel were present in the program.
