Bhadohi, May 29 (HS). An online lecture was organized on the death anniversary of Padma Shri Prof. Govind Chandra Pandey under the joint aegis of All India History Research Institute Prayagraj and History Compilation Committee Mahakoshal Province. The topic of the lecture was “Literary and cultural contribution of Acharya Pravar Prof. Govind Chandra Pandey”.
It was presided over by Prof. Sushmita Pandey, former head of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology of Vikram University. In her presidential address, she praised the efforts of the program coordinator Dr. Shivakant Tripathi and elaborately highlighted the work and personality of Professor Pandey.
Giving a special speech, former Vice Chancellor of Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, Prof. Kapil Dev Mishra, while describing his own conduct and words as the work of his Gurus, said that “I am such a secondary source in whose creation Prof. Pandey has been the primary source.” Giving a special speech, Assistant Curator of Allahabad Museum, Dr. Rajesh Mishra, while shedding light on the personality and work of Prof. Pandey, while illuminating the elements of self-introspection described in his works and the memories related to Prayag, said that “Where do I start from and where do I end, from value theory to aesthetic philosophy discussion, from Buddha to Vedas? I do not have the ability to say even a thousandth of what he did.”
The chief speaker and patron of the Nikhil Bharatiya Itihas Shodh Sansthan, Prof. H.N. Dubey, while remembering his Guru, threw light on the richness of the Guru tradition and described Prof. Pandey's creativity, historical vision, linguistic excellence and said that it is a matter of good fortune for me to be the disciple of such a Guru. Prof. Dubey said that we always saw books in his hands, thoughts in his mind and affection for all of us. His creativity can be seen not only in books but also in his students.
Renowned archaeologist Prof. J.N. Pal expressed his surprise at Prof. Pandey's archaeological knowledge and said that it was always a surprise for all of us that no discipline of education was untouched by him. Prof. Anamika Roy, former head of the ancient history department of Allahabad University, while recalling the affectionate support received from Prof. Pandey in various stages of her academic life right from her childhood, said that she had first seen him as the Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan and was amazed at his simplicity.
Prof. Maruti Nandan Prasad Tiwari, a famous art connoisseur of Banaras Hindu University, threw light on his artistic values. Research student Shivansh Tiwari, while remembering Prof. Pandey as Dharmgyaon Dharmakarta Cha Sada Dharmaparayana:, paid his respects to the tradition whose carriers are Prof. Sushmita Pandey, Prof. H. N. Dubey, Prof. Anamika Roy and Dr. Shivakant Tripathi. The welcome address of the program was given by Prof. Praveen Mishra and Mangalacharan was given by Dr. Sachin Dev Dwivedi.
The program was conducted by the coordinator Dr. Shivakant Tripathi and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Pragya Mishra.
