President Murmu and PM Modi congratulated Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh on winning medals

President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh for winning the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. The Indian pair of Bhaker and Sarbjot defeated Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 to give the country its second medal at this Olympics. Bhaker has become the first Indian athlete to win two medals in an Olympics after independence. Earlier, she had won the bronze medal in the women's 10 meter air pistol event.

President Murmu wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations to Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh for winning the bronze medal for India in the mixed team shooting 10m air pistol event! Manu Bhaker has created history by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win two medals at the same Olympic Games. I wish her and Sarbjot Singh all the best for more great achievements in the future.”

PM Modi shared a post on social media and wrote- 'Our shooters make us proud… and congratulations to Sarabjot Singh for winning the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Olympics. Both have shown excellent skills and teamwork. India is very happy… For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, which reflects her continued excellence and dedication.' He spoke to Sarabjot Singh over the phone and congratulated him for winning the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics 2024.
