University registrations will be reduced to 145,000 or around the level set in 2023. 30,000 new international students can register in 2025, while vocational education and training providers will be limited to 95,000. In addition, visa fees were doubled in July to reduce immigration.

After 21 June 2024, foreign nationals will not be able to apply for post-graduation work permits. This process has been stopped.
