Kanpur, June 23 (HS). On the occasion of Jansangh founder Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's Balidan Diwas, party officials and workers at all 1162 booths of BJP South District on Sunday paid tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by offering flowers to his picture. Along with this, workers planted saplings with their mothers and took selfies and uploaded them on the Saral app. Regional President Prakash Pal said that if Punjab and West Bengal are part of India today, it is the result of Dr. Mukherjee's struggles.

A seminar was organized on Sunday at the BJP South Party Office in Keshav Nagar. The seminar was presided over by Booth President Amit Shukla of Booth No. 111. Regional President Prakash Pal and South District President Shivram Singh paid tribute to the founder of Jan Sangh, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, by garlanding and offering flowers to his picture on his martyrdom day. Regional President Prakash Pal gave detailed information about Dr. Mukherjee's biography, political background and the sacrifices made for the integrity and unity of the country. He said that the first goal of BJP's top man Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was to establish national unity. He had said that two heads, two constitutions and two flags are not tolerated in the country. In 1953, he set out on a journey to Jammu and Kashmir without a permit to get Kashmir for Indians. On reaching there, he was put under house arrest and jailed where he died under mysterious circumstances on 23 June 1953. He said that if Punjab and West Bengal are a part of India today, it is the result of Dr. Mukherjee's struggles.

District President Shivram Singh said that Dr. Mukherjee always imagined a golden future for India. His works for national unity cannot be forgotten. He said that the true tribute to Dr. Mukherjee was paid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on 5 August 2019 by passing the proposal to remove Section 370 in Parliament on the same day. Because it was he who had shown the dream of returning Kashmir to the people of India. Born on 6 July 1901 in Calcutta city of Bengal, Dr. Mukherjee was a thinker and a brilliant educationist. He was a true worshipper of humanity and a principled person.
