Washington, September 14 (HS). Pope Francis, the supreme religious leader of Christians, has made a big comment on the US presidential election. Without naming anyone, he said that both the candidates are 'against life'. One (Donald Trump) is cruel to immigrants while the other (Kamala Harris) is a supporter of abortion rights. In such a situation, American Catholic voters will have to choose the 'less evil candidate'.
According to the news of America's leading newspaper The New York Times, 87-year-old Pope Francis made this important comment while talking to reporters on the plane while returning to Rome after a long trip to South East Asia and Oceania. Pope Francis was on an 11-day long tour of the Asia-Pacific region. This trip included stops in Jakarta, East Timor and Singapore.
During a conversation on the plane, a reporter asked him whether it would be morally acceptable to vote for someone who supports the right to abortion? To this, Francis said that everyone should vote. The voter has to choose the lesser evil. Which is less evil? That lady or that gentleman? I don't know. Every person should think and decide according to his conscience. Pope Francis did not suggest the name of any candidate in his advice to the voters in the press conference. He called upon Catholic voters in the US presidential election to choose the lesser of the two evils. He said that not allowing migrants to live is cruelty and killing a child in the mother's womb is also cruelty.
Pope Francis was also asked about the situation in Gaza. He said, “When you see the bodies of children killed. When you hear that schools were bombed. It is terrible to hear this. Sometimes it is said that this is a defensive war. I believe that it is a mere war. I am sorry to say that I do not see any move towards peace.”
