Emphasis on home quarantine

The Prime Minister said that therefore it would be better to focus more at the local level. He said, ‘From where more cases of infection are coming, from where more and more cases are coming, there should be investigation, it will have to be ensured. Apart from this, we have to ensure that maximum treatment is also done in home quarantine. Let us tell you that in view of the rapidly increasing cases of infection, various restrictions have been imposed by the states in different parts of the country. While many states have imposed night curfew, some states have also declared weekend curfew. He told the Chief Ministers that the governments should continue to issue the guidelines related to home quarantine and also improve it from time to time. He said that during this period, the better the system of ‘testing, tracking and treatment’, the less the need to go to hospitals.

Referring to the ongoing vaccination campaign in the country, the Prime Minister said that the sooner the precautionary dose is administered to the front line workers and senior citizens suffering from serious diseases, the less burden will be on the health care infrastructure of the country. The Prime Minister said that today India has given the first dose of vaccines to about 92% of the adult population and has given both doses to about 70% of the population.
