PM Modi: PM Vishwakarma Yojana will be launched today (September 17, 2023) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Traditional artisans and craftsmen skilled in handicrafts will be given recognition and all-round assistance. The scheme also aims to enhance the quality, production and scope of products of MSMEs by including them in value chains.Organization of the program at 70 locations in different parts of the country, under the whole of government approach, to create widespread awareness among the beneficiaries. India has a variety of arts and crafts, which are ancient and rich in values and beliefs. Traditional artisans and artists are traditionally called ‘Vishwakarmas’. They work with artistic ability, creating objects with their hands using traditional tools and techniques. Vishwakarma is the creator of this country. Meanwhile, on August 16, 2023, the Union Cabinet had approved the implementation of a new scheme called ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ across India. This is a visionary decision for the traditional artisans and artists.Inclusion of ‘in’ 18 traditional professions under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma YojanaThe Central Government has included 18 traditional professions under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. fishing net weavers, tailors, parita (washermen), flower garland makers, barbers, traditional doll and toy makers, basket/mat/broom makers/cane makers, potters, chambars, sculptors, stonecutters ( stone breakers), potters, goldsmiths, locksmiths, hammer and toolkit makers, blacksmiths, carpenters, boat builders, etc. Boats and builders play an important role in the development of small scale industries and fisheries sector, they play a major role in the smooth functioning of our fishing industry and act as the backbone of Indian marine fisheries. Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is the nodal ministry of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
