A group of 117 athletes who went to participate in the Paris Olympics 2024 has now returned to the country. This time controversy was seen in the Olympics when Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified just before her gold medal match due to being 100 grams overweight. After this incident with Vinesh, many Indian fans expressed their displeasure. Vinesh had also filed a petition in the International Council of Arbitration for Sport in this matter. On which her appeal was rejected on 14 August. Here now PM Modi has praised Vinesh Phogat while meeting all the athletes who returned from the Paris Olympics.
PM Modi met the Indian delegation that went to participate in Paris Olympics 2024 and talked to them about their experiences. During this, PM Modi also mentioned Vinesh Phogat and praised her and said that Vinesh became the first Indian to reach the final in wrestling. This is a matter of great pride for us. Earlier, when Vinesh was disqualified just before the gold medal, PM Modi shared the post and wrote that Vinesh, you are the pride of the whole country and an inspiration to everyone. You have the ability to overcome such challenges.
Apart from this, while speaking about the hockey team, PM Modi said that in hockey, we have won the bronze medal twice in a row after 52 years. I want to welcome all of you. For me every player is a champion, who plays for the country. You have tried your best this time too. The future is even better. This Paris Olympics is good in many ways because most of the athletes participating in it were young. This is going to prove to be a turning point for us. Now India will not stop at the Olympics.
