Actually, according to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha falls between the period from Dwadashi to Purnima of the Shukla Paksha of the Ashvayuja month, in which it is considered auspicious to perform various pujas and rituals for the peace of the soul of ancestors and their virtue.
In the scriptures, the Tulsi plant is said to provide positivity. In such a situation, worshiping the Tulsi plant during Pitru Paksha brings peace to the souls of ancestors. This satisfies the dissatisfied ancestors, their anger is also pacified and the ancestors trapped in the ghost world also get salvation.
