Paris: Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of messaging app Telegram, was arrested at Bourget airport outside Paris on Saturday evening. Telegram has released a statement following the arrest of its CEO.
Telegram has said in a statement that its CEO Pavel Durov has nothing to hide. However, he was arrested on charges that he failed to prevent criminal activity on the messaging app.

“Telegram complies with EU laws, including the Digital Services Act. Telegram operates in accordance with industry standards,” the company said in a statement via the app.

“Pavel Durov has nothing to hide. He travels frequently to Europe. It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner is responsible for the abuse of the platform,” the statement said.
