Pakistani terrorist Babar Bhai killed in encounter, was active in the valley for 4 years

Srinagar : A Pakistani terrorist has been killed by security forces in an ongoing encounter in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir since late Wednesday night. The terrorist has been identified as Babar, who hails from Pakistan. He was active in Shopian and Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir since 2018. One rifle, one pistol and two grenades were recovered from the terrorist. Kashmir Police IG Vijay Kumar said that policeman Rohit Chhib has also died during this encounter. Apart from this, 3 army personnel have been injured. Two civilians also sustained minor injuries.

Babur, a terrorist associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, was involved in carrying out many incidents in the valley. The encounter started on Wednesday when a joint team of police and army started a search operation in Parivaan village of Kulgam. Officials said that the terrorist was hiding in the house. The operation is over with his death. Jammu and Kashmir Police said on its official Twitter handle, ‘The slain terrorist has been identified as Babar Bhai of Pakistan. He was active in Shopian and Kulgam since 2018.

So far 9 encounters have taken place between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. In this, 13 terrorists have been killed. Out of these terrorists, 5 are from abroad i.e. Pakistan. Officials say that due to better coordination between security forces, human intelligence and targeting of overground workers, there has been an increase in the encounters. Officials said terrorists are increasingly being targeted and their numbers have come down. Last year, a total of 171 terrorists were killed in encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. In the last 13 months so far, security forces have killed 184 terrorists in encounters.
