Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has admitted that Pakistan has violated the peace agreements known as the 'Lahore Declaration' between him and then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Those agreements were signed on February 21, 1999. These agreements were aimed at establishing peace and stability in the region.
After clarifying this, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan said on Tuesday night that the 'Kargil War' took place within a few months of these agreements.
In the General Council of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), he said about the nuclear bomb experiments conducted by Pakistan that I conducted nuclear bomb experiments despite the pressure of America. Bill Clinton, who was the President of America at that time, asked me not to conduct those tests as well as offered to give 50 billion dollars (to Pakistan), but I did not accept that offer and on May 28, 1999, the nuclear bomb test was conducted.
Criticising former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and chief Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif said, “If I had Imran Khan (as prime minister), he would have accepted Clinton's proposal.”
While levelling another allegation on Imran Khan, Sharif said, 'Stop bribing us (about the support given by the army) and accept whether the then army chief General Islam had promised to bring PTI to power or not?' Hey! Imran Khan sat at the feet of the military establishment. Nawaz Sharif said this on the 26th anniversary of Pakistan's first nuclear bomb test.
