BCCI rejects Bangladesh's proposal: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has given the reason behind not organizing a day-night Test match in India. India last organized a day-night Test match against Sri Lanka at the Bengaluru M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the year 2022. Then India played Test series against Australia and England. But BCCI is reluctant to organize a match with a pink ball. Recently, the BCCI secretary explained the reason behind this move and said that results come quickly in such matches. The BCCI has rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board's request for India to host the Women's T20 World Cup 2024.
The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to begin on October 3 and the tournament is set to be held across two venues in Bangladesh. She revealed that there is a lot of tension in Bangladesh due to the political turmoil and it is challenging for the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) to organise the event there.
He further said, 'Next year we will host the 50-over Women's World Cup. We do not want to give any indication that we want to host the World Cup again, Bangladesh asked BCCI if they could host this tournament, but I flatly refused. Now that the monsoon season is going on and next year we are going to host the Women's ODI World Cup, I do not want to give the impression that I want to host one World Cup after the other.'
The BCCI secretary further said, 'You buy a ticket for a five-day match, but the game is over in 2-3 days. There is no refund. I am a bit emotional about it.' India have played three day-night Test matches at home and none of them lasted more than three days. The match in Ahmedabad was over in just two days. India's only defeat came in a day-night match in Adelaide, where the team was bowled out for 36, the team's lowest score in 87 years.
