Varanasi, 19 August (HS). With auspicious resolutions, Namami Gange dedicated Vedic Raksha Sutra made of flowers to the pure mother Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat on the last Monday of Sawan and the holy festival of Rakshabandhan. Along with this, a pledge was also taken to protect the perennial river. By worshipping Lord Shiva, an appeal was made to protect Indian culture.

After this, Namami Gange volunteers cleaned the Ganga bank along with the devotees present. Cloth bags were provided to the devotees present on the bank, giving the message of not using polythene which is harmful for the environment.

Convener Rajesh Shukla said that by protecting the environment, we can protect everyone. The importance of this festival is not just about a sister tying a rakhi on her brother's wrist, but it should also be celebrated as a festival of taking a pledge to protect the country, society, environment, culture, civilization, cow and mother Ganga, considering it in its historical form.
