Gautam Gambhir's choice of coaching staff: Amid the talk of giving a 'free hand' to former Indian opener Gambhir, who has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI, it has been revealed that he has suggested five names for support staff which have been rejected. Till now the head coach used to appoint only people of his choice in the support staff i.e. batting, bowling and fielding coaches. However, the situation has changed after Gambhir became the head coach.
BCCI rejected five names suggested by Gambhir in the support staff
According to a report, BCCI has rejected five names suggested by Gambhir as bowling and fielding coach in the support staff. Gambhir first proposed the names of Vinay Kumar and L. Balaji as Team India's bowling coach. Which was rejected. After this, he also recommended the names of Jonty Rhodes and Ryan Ten Doeschate as fielding coach. It is believed that the board has agreed on the names of these two.
The board rejected the recommendation of Morne Morkel as bowling coach
Now he has chosen Morne Morkel as the bowling coach. However, the board is not in the mood to include the former South African fast bowler as the bowling coach of Team India. This kind of attitude of BCCI is surprising because till now there has been no case of the board rejecting the recommendation of the head coach for the support staff.
After the board rejected five names one after the other, it remains to be seen how head coach Gambhir implements his plans and action plan.
Gambhir's working style may be affected by the attitude of the board
Some people in the cricket world are also arguing that all of them played under Gambhir's leadership and were with him in the IPL support staff. Although many people have been associated with a great player and coaching legend like Gambhir, it would not be surprising if Gambhir's working style gets affected due to such attitude of the board.
