Kanpur, August 10 (HS). Kalyanpur police station, with the help of surveillance and cyber cell team, busted an online fraud gang and arrested nine people including a woman on Saturday. The team recovered 14 mobile phones, SIM cards, ATM cards and three motorcycles and Rs 284 cash from the possession of the gang.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Rajesh Kumar Singh said that among the arrested accused are Sandhya, resident of Bhagwanpur of Ghazipur police station area of Fatehpur district, Indrajit and his brother Deepak Kumar of the same village, Rinku, Chandan, resident of Prem Nagar of Malwa police station area of Fatehpur district, Pankaj, resident of Bandi Purwa Nayapurva village of Sachendi, Rahul Singh, resident of Mirpur village of Thariyanv police station area of Fatehpur, Anuj, resident of Ganeshpur village of Sachendi and his neighbour Gajendra alias Dashrath son of Chandan Singh.
The DCP said that the arrested woman displays her body parts through WhatsApp video call and after recording it, she introduces herself as Crime Branch and CBI officer through other associates on the basis of the same recording. They threaten them and by threatening to send them to jail, they make their associate deposit money online in fake Canara Bank account number of Varsha wife Surendra resident of Chhutmalpur district Saharanpur and withdraw it from ATM and divide it among themselves. In this way, their entire gang does the business of looting innocent people. Along with this, they cheat people by luring them to get benefits under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and by sending obscene/child porn videos of women through mobile phones, they scare and extort money by threatening.
As part of the campaign being run on the instructions of the Police Commissioner of Kanpur Nagar, Cyber Cell West Zone in-charge Shubham Yadav and a joint team of Kalyanpur police station arrested the gang members on Saturday and sent them to jail after taking legal action against all of them.
