New Metro Route: Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) are exploring the possibility of running the metro on Galeria Road. Under the plan, preparations are being made to connect the Millennium City Center station with the Sector 42-43 station of the Rapid Metro located on Golf Course Road.
The laying of this approximately 2.4 kilometer long line will directly benefit the residents of Sushant Lok One, DLF Phase 4, Sector-27, 42 and 43. He had given instructions to make a plan to connect Millennium City Center Metro Station with Sector-42-43 Rapid Metro Station.
GMRL, HMRTC have started the work. It has not been decided yet how many stations will be built on this metro route. An HMRTC official said that there is GMDA green area on this road, where a station can be built.
Survey up to 5 kilometers regarding expansion
Geotechnical survey work has been done for about five kilometers for the metro extension from Millennium City Center Metro Station to Cyber City via Old Gurugram. At present, a survey is being conducted around Subhash Chowk. At present, HMRTC has handed over the responsibility of survey of 12.76 km portion of the 28.5 km long metro to a company. Under this, a 30 meter borewell will be dug and water and soil samples will be taken and tested.
Plan to increase road width
Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has planned to increase the width of this road. Under this, there is a plan to leave a partition of half a meter on both sides in the middle of the road. Now GMRL has said that if there is a plan to increase the width of this road, then the work should be done keeping the metro expansion in mind. A partition of two and a half meters should be left.
27 stations will be built for the old Gurugram Metro.
On February 16, the Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of the Metro in Old Gurugram. 27 stations are to be constructed on this 28.50 kilometer long route. This will cost around Rs 5452.72 crore.
