15 people have died due to rapidly changing weather in Sri Lanka. It is being told that with the change in weather, the risk of sudden storms, rains, floods and landslides has increased in Sri Lanka.

The weather in Sri Lanka has taken a dangerous turn. Let us tell you that due to the effect of deep pressure over South-West Bay of Bengal, adverse weather conditions have arisen in this island nation. Disaster Management Center (DMC) said that due to such adverse weather conditions, life has become disrupted due to floods, storms and landslides. This dangerous turn of weather has taken the lives of 15 people in Sri Lanka. There is a possibility of the weather getting worse now.

DMC said more than 4,50,000 people have been affected by floods, strong winds and landslides in the country and 15 people have died so far. It said that the maximum number of 10 deaths have occurred in the Eastern Province. The cyclonic storm that has wreaked havoc in the eastern province will move towards India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu later on Saturday, meteorological officials said. After this the weather in the country may improve.

Chance of more than 100 mm rain

However, the weather department said north-central and eastern Trincomalee districts were likely to receive rainfall of more than 100 mm. There is also a possibility of winds blowing at a speed of more than 60 km per hour in some parts of the country. Meanwhile, police said they have arrested a school principal and a teacher in connection with the death of six students due to floods while traveling on a tractor in the eastern town of Samanthurai. Since there was no bus, the principal asked the students to go by tractor.
