Fatwa of Maulana Razvi Barelvi on New Year celebrations: The English New Year is starting in two days. Many events are organized at hotels, resorts and tourist places to celebrate the New Year and wish each other on this occasion. Chief Mufti of Chashme Darul Ifta and President of Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has issued a fatwa regarding this. It said that celebrating the New Year, giving wishes and organizing Jalsa is illegal in the light of Islamic Sharia.
It is illegal for Muslims to celebrate New Year
According to the fatwa, the new year starts from January which is the new year of Christians. Christians have a religious belief that they celebrate the first day every year and organize many programs in it. Since it is a purely religious event for Christians, it is illegal for Muslims to celebrate the New Year. Islam strictly prohibits such programs.
Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi said in the fatwa that celebrating the New Year, congratulating each other, bursting firecrackers, clapping, making noise, whistling, creating ruckus by switching off the lights, then switching on the lights, dancing and singing, Drinking alcohol, gambling, congratulating each other by messaging on your mobile’s WhatsApp, all these things are Islamic and illegitimate in the light of Shariat.

In the fatwa, Muslims have been asked not to participate in other religious festivals and to stop other Muslims from doing so. If any person commits such non-Sharia work, he will be considered a big criminal. Muslims should not do anything against Shariat.
