Mumbai City FC wants to strengthen its League Shield bid with victory over Odisha

Mumbai, 8 April (HS). Mumbai City FC will face Odisha FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 match to be played at their home ground Mumbai Football Arena (MFA) this evening. Both the teams are competing for the top spot and a win in this encounter will take them closer to the League Shield title.

The Islanders are on top of the table with 44 points from 20 matches. They are followed by Mohun Bagan Super Giants (42) and Odisha FC (39), but interestingly, Peter Kratky's Islanders have to play their last two league matches against these two opponents.

Odisha have won two and drawn two in their last five league matches. They have slipped down in the points table, making it difficult for them to reach the first position.

Odisha have returned to form with an impressive 3-1 win over Punjab FC in their last match. Whereas, Mumbai City FC defeated Hyderabad FC 3-0 in their last match. This ensured that both these teams will face off in the upcoming match in great form.

Mumbai City FC's Czech head coach Peter Kratky said before the match on Sunday, “Our approach is the same. We want to unite and fight for the team and the club. That's the mentality we want to maintain. How do we maintain this? “We work hard, we stick together.”

“This is a special one for me, because I won everything here in just one year,” Odisha FC's Spanish head coach Sergio Lobera said in the pre-match press conference. I didn't get a chance to meet my fans, so it's special to be on the field of the club where I've won everything. “It is a contest full of personal emotions.”

Let us tell you that so far 19 matches have been played between the two teams, in which Mumbai City FC has won 10 and Odisha FC has won 5 matches, while 4 matches have been drawn.
