Moradabad, August 18 (HS). Under the leadership of Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction's state general secretary Dharmendra Tomar and Moradabad district chief Virendra Arora, more than 800 Shiv Sainiks, who were going to perform Jalabhishek with the resolve to liberate the ancient Sri Harihar temple in Sambhal on Sunday, were stopped and detained by the police on Delhi Road.
Shiv Sena district chief Virendra Arora said that apart from Moradabad, more than 800 Shiv Sainiks from various districts of western UP like Meerut, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Amroha etc. had gathered in Moradabad for the campaign to march to Sambhal. After this, all the gathered Shiv Sainiks left for Sambhal on scooters, motorcycles, cars, tractor trolleys etc. chanting Jai Shivaji, Jai Bhavani, Bam-Bam Bhole and carrying canes of Ganga water in their hands.
When they reached Hotel Driving 24 on Delhi Road, a large number of deployed police force and RAF soldiers stopped them and did not allow them to proceed further. Even after this, the Shiv Sainiks did not listen and started raising slogans and breaking the police cordon and moving ahead. The police completely closed the National Highway Delhi Road by barricading it. After which the Shiv Sena officials could not proceed further and the police took them into custody. City Magistrate Kinshuk Shrivastava and ACM present there talked to the Shiv Sainiks, after which Shiv Sena State General Secretary Dharmendra Tomar handed over a memorandum addressed to the President to the administrative officials, demanding the release of Harihar Temple.
