Monsoon Health Tips by Ayush Ministry: Risk of diseases during rainy season? AYUSH Ministry released monsoon health guidelines, keep yourself and family safe like this

While the pleasant rainy season provides relief from the scorching heat, it also brings with it many seasonal diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid, diarrhea and skin infections. During monsoon, the body’s immunity becomes weak due to increase in humidity in the air and dimming of digestive fire. With the aim of dealing with this seasonal crisis and keeping people healthy. Ministry of Ayush has issued monsoon special health guidelines. From a reporter’s point of view, by adopting Ayurvedic medicines available in the kitchen and small changes in lifestyle, you can remain completely healthy throughout this season without any heavy medicines. Let us know the major measures suggested by the Ministry of AYUSH.

1. Keep digestive power strong: Eat light and easily digestible food

According to Ayurveda, Jathragni (digestive fire) becomes weak during the rainy season, hence it is advised to pay special attention to food habits:

  • Fresh and hot food: Avoid eating stale or cold food. Always eat freshly cooked, light and easily digestible food.

  • Use of rock salt and dry ginger: While cooking, use a pinch of rock salt, roasted cumin, dry ginger and asafoetida. It keeps your digestive system healthy.

  • Boiled Water: For drinking, always boil water thoroughly and drink it lukewarm. Boiled water removes toxins from the body and protects from water borne diseases.

2. Decoction and herbal tea to increase immunity

To avoid seasonal viral infections, cold and cough, the Ministry of AYUSH has recommended including herbal drinks in your daily routine:

  • Ayush decoction: Drink the decoction prepared by boiling basil, cinnamon, black pepper and dry ginger in water once a day. You can add some jaggery or lemon juice to it as per taste.

  • Golden Milk: Drinking warm milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric before sleeping at night strengthens the body’s immunity.

3. Mosquito protection and cleanliness around the house

The incidence of mosquitoes increases rapidly during monsoon, which causes serious diseases like dengue and malaria:

  • Neem oil lamp or smoke: Light a neem oil lamp in the house in the evening or smoke dry neem leaves. It works as a natural mosquito repellent.

  • Do not allow waterlogging: Do not allow water to accumulate around the house, in coolers, pots or empty utensils.

4. Ayurvedic tips to prevent skin infection

Itching, rashes and fungal infections of the skin are very common due to moisture:

  • Bath with neem water: Boiling neem leaves in bath water or adding neem juice to it helps in eliminating the bacteria present on the skin.

  • Sesame or Mustard Oil: Massaging the body with light sesame oil or mustard oil before bathing acts as a protective shield for the skin.
