Monkeypox: First case of monkeypox reported in India, patient quarantined, know the symptoms | News India


Monkeypox: Many countries of the world are suffering from monkeypox infection. This viral infection, which started from African countries, is spreading in many Asian countries including America and Britain. Meanwhile, a suspected patient of monkeypox has been found in India too. This person has returned after traveling abroad. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the person has come from a country which is currently dealing with patients infected with monkeypox. The ministry said that he has been kept in isolation. At present, his condition is stable.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a statement saying that the patient's sample is being tested to determine if he is infected with monkeypox. The case is being managed as per established protocols.

Precautions are being taken regarding monkeypox

Contact tracing is underway to identify possible sources and assess the impact within the country. The ministry also said that their symptoms are consistent with those reported by the NCDC. The ministry also said that adequate caution is being taken in this regard and all protocols are being followed. The country is fully prepared to deal with such various travel-related cases. In a recent meeting of the Health Ministry, it was revealed that monkeypox infection usually lasts for 2-4 weeks. Prolonged close contact with an infected person, usually through sexual contact, direct contact with body or wound fluids, or using contaminated clothing or bedsheets of an infected person.

Symptoms of Monkeypox

The main symptoms of monkeypox are fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain and fatigue. The research team has identified genital and mouth lesions as symptoms of the monkeypox virus. According to experts, the same problem was seen in some monkeypox victims earlier as well. Rashes appear on the face, which spread to other parts of the body. During the infection, these spots undergo several changes and eventually form a scab and fall off like smallpox.

How dangerous is monkeypox?

According to information received from the CDC, more than 99 percent of infected patients are not at risk of death. This means that the mortality rate among patients infected with monkeypox is very low. However, if children under the age of 8 are infected with monkeypox, their risk of death increases. Similarly, if pregnant or breastfeeding women get infected with monkeypox, it can prove fatal for them.
