Mirzapur, 26 July (HS). A group of 60 pilgrims who left for Haridwar from Gorakhpur reached Vindhyachal on 25 July via Kashi by bus. During Ganga bath at Pakka Ghat, thieves stole the clothes of two pilgrims from which 76 thousand rupees and three mobile phones were kept.
Thieves made the Kanwariyas who reached Vindhyachal from Gorakhpur their prey. While bathing in Ganga, the thieves ran away with their clothes. Despite giving named information, the thieves are still out of the reach of the police. The victim Kanwariyas told that along with clothes, the thieves took money and mobiles.
The thieves stole the clothes of Sintu Modanwal, a resident of Barhalganj, which contained Rs 73,000 in cash and two mobile phones. Similarly, Rajaram Yadav's pants were also stolen. Which contained Rs 3500 and a mobile phone. Sintu Modanwal had donation money, which was collected for travel expenses. Due to the theft of money, the passengers also had to face problems regarding food. Despite complaining to the police, they did not get any relief.
The pilgrims said that since afternoon we are wandering here and there in Vindhyachal police station without food and water, no one is listening to us. They said that after finding the youth who committed the theft, the pilgrims gave a written complaint to the police naming him. Despite this, the thief is still far from the reach of the police. That too when the government and administration are claiming better security arrangements for the pilgrims.
