Modi government lifts ban on export of onion, allows export of 3 lakh metric tons

The Modi government at the Center has taken a big decision and under this the ban on export of onion has been removed. The cabinet chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah has approved onion export. To curb the rising prices of onion in the country, the government had banned its export and had set a deadline of March 31, 2024, but this ban has been lifted before the deadline.

This decision has been approved in the meeting led by Home Minister Amit Shah. The government has given this approval considering the stock of onion in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed the Union Home Minister about the situation of onion farmers, after which the decision to lift the ban was taken.

The main reason for lifting the ban is said to be the fall in the prices of onion and other vegetables in onion producing areas. Now the Union Ministerial Committee has decided to lift the ban and has approved the export of 3 lakh metric tonnes of onion. Along with this, approval has also been given to export 50,000 tonnes of onion to Bangladesh.
