Jammu, 30 November (HIST). Recently, the Indian Army organized a special medical camp at Salon and Banikhet in Poonch to cater to the health needs of the migrant Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities living in these remote areas and the Dhokas of the high Pir Panjal ranges. These areas, known for their poor road infrastructure and limited medical facilities, often face significant barriers to access to healthcare. The camp offered general health checkups and distributed free medicines to residents, ensuring that primary health care reached even the most disadvantaged.
A highlight was the presence of a female medical officer who allowed the women present to discuss their health concerns – many of which had been long neglected due to cultural and logistical challenges. This initiative was heartily appreciated by the local community who appreciated the Army’s commitment to their well-being.
