New Delhi, March 22 (HS). The domestic stock market showed tremendous strength today after facing initial weakness. Due to the rise in the market on the last trading day before Holi, investors also made huge profits. Today the trading started with a decline but in the first hour of trading itself the bulls took over the market. Due to this, both Sensex and Nifty indices were successful in showing strong rise. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.26 percent and Nifty closed with a gain of 0.39 percent.
In today's trading, except IT, all the sectoral indices were successful in closing with gains. There was heavy buying in shares of automobile, realty and pharmaceutical sectors. There was selling pressure in IT sector shares. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index managed to close with a gain of 0.38 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 1.06 percent.
Due to the market boom today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 2.25 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 382.24 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. However, on the last trading day i.e. Thursday, their market capitalization was Rs 379.85 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 2.39 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 3,906 shares in BSE in the day's trading. Of these, 2,444 shares closed with gains, while 1,365 shares closed with a decline and 97 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,228 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,481 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 747 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 20 shares closed with gains and 10 shares closed with decline. Out of the stocks included in Nifty, 37 stocks closed in the green mark and 13 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex fell 409.53 points today and opened at 72,231.66 points. Due to selling pressure as soon as the trading started, this index fell to the level of 72,172.09 points with a weakness of 469.10 points. After this, the bulls created buying pressure in the market, due to which this index gained momentum. With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped 943.53 points from the low level and reached the level of 73,115.62 points with a rise of 474.43 points, shortly before 3 pm. However, in the end, due to selling due to intra-day settlement, the Sensex slipped more than 275 points from the upper level and closed at 72,831.94 points with a gain of 190.75 points.
Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a fall of 79.75 points at the level of 21,932.20 points. Due to selling pressure in early trade, this index also fell to the level of 21,883.30 with a weakness of 128.65 points. After this, all-round buying started in the market, due to which this index also made its place in the green mark within a short time. With the support of continuous buying, half an hour before the end of today's trading, this index jumped by about 300 points from the low level and reached the level of 22,180.70 points with a gain of 168.75 points. However, in the end, due to selling due to profit booking, Nifty fell by more than 80 points from the upper level and closed at 22,096.75 points with a gain of 84.80 points.
After the entire day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Hero MotoCorp 3.63 percent, Maruti Suzuki 3.61 percent, UPL 3.17 percent, Apollo Hospital 3.13 percent and Sun Pharmaceuticals 2.79 percent joined the list of today's top 5 gainers. . On the other hand, LT Mindtree joined the list of today's top 5 losers with a weakness of 3 percent, Infosys 2.95 percent, Wipro 2.67 percent, HCL Technology 2.38 percent and Tech Mahindra 1.57 percent.
