Pune Food Factory: A major accident was averted in a food processing unit in Pune, Maharashtra on Wednesday. Dangerous ammonia gas suddenly leaked inside the factory. People started having trouble breathing. This created panic in the factory. The police was informed about this. People were immediately admitted to the hospital. All are said to be safe. The cause of the accident is not known.
Dangerous ammonia gas leaked in a food processing factory in Yavat area
Seventeen people were hospitalised after a hazardous ammonia gas leak at a food processing factory in Yavat area of Pune district, police said, adding that the incident took place at a ready-to-eat food processing unit on Tuesday morning. Among those admitted to the hospital, a woman is currently in the ICU for care and monitoring.
17 people were affected by the leakage incident
Senior Inspector of Yavat Police Narayan Deshmukh said that 17 people were affected by the gas leak incident. They were taken to the hospital. The officer said, 'Their condition is stable and out of danger. However, as a precaution, they have been kept under observation. The woman who was near the leak site has been admitted to the ICU for better care and monitoring.'
