Los Elections: 483 licensed weapons seized from March 16 to April 12

Lucknow, 13 April (HS). In view of the Lok Sabha elections, the Model Code of Conduct is in force across Uttar Pradesh. Police, Income Tax, Excise, Narcotics and other departments are deployed to strictly enforce this.

Chief Electoral Officer of the state Navdeep Rinwa said that in this action, on April 12, the licenses of 10 licensed weapons were canceled and deposited. While taking preventive action under CrPC, 63303 people were banned. Besides, 205 unlicensed illegal weapons, 172 cartridges and 03 bombs were recovered and seized. Police raided 106 centers manufacturing illegal weapons and 04 centers were seized.

He informed that for intensive checking, 513 inter-state check posts and 1844 check posts are operated within the state. From March 16 to April 12, the police department seized 483 licensed weapons from criminal persons. Licenses of 4108 licensed weapons were canceled and deposited.

Similarly, while taking preventive action under CrPC, notices were sent to ban 22,80,567 people, out of which 16,24,035 people have been banned. Apart from this, 5979 unlicensed illegal weapons, 6067 cartridges, 2144.5 kg explosives and 317 bombs were recovered and seized by the police department. Raids were conducted on 2130 centers manufacturing illegal weapons and 107 centers were seized.
