After heavy rains in Dharmakund area of Ramban district, the drain water entered the village and a sudden flood -like situation arose. Ten houses were completely destroyed in the flood, while 25 to 30 houses were partially damaged. The biggest concern was that around 90 to 100 people were stranded in the region, but all the people were safely evacuated due to quick action by the Dharmakund police.
In this regard, the MP said that he is in constant contact with Deputy Commissioner Basir-ul-Haq Chaudhary and has appreciated the quick action taken by the district administration. He said that all kinds of assistance, whether financial or others, are being provided. Assistance from MP fund will also be provided if needed. The public has been urged not to pay attention to rumors and face the situation together with the administration.
Police bravery in Kulgam
The situation in Gulab Bagh, Qazigund in Kulgam district also became worrying, as flood waters entered many houses due to heavy rains. Four families are stranded due to road barrier. But on receiving the information, a team of police led by the SHO reached the spot and turned the water direction and took out all the affected people safely. About 4-5 houses were in danger, but timely action was averted due to timely action.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for Jammu and Kashmir for the next 48 hours. The department has warned that heavy rains, hailstorms and strong winds may continue in the upper areas, causing floods and landslides to worsen.
