Kanpur: Kushinagar Express got divided into two parts at 3 am on Monday near Pukhrayan station on Jhansi-Kanpur railway line. There was panic among the passengers when the train suddenly stopped after the coupling of S-2 coach of the train broke. Due to stoppage at Pukhrayan station, the speed of the train was slow, due to which a major accident was averted. On information, the railway team reached the spot, removed the S-2 coach and shifted the passengers to another coach. During this period, the train remained standing at Pukhrayan station for about four and a half hours. When the train reached Jhansi at 10 am, S-1 coach was also removed.
As soon as train number 22537 Kushinagar Express from Gorakhpur to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus reached km number 1290/5 near Pukhrayan station at 3 am on Monday, the coupling of S-2 coach broke. After this the train got divided into two parts. As soon as the coupling broke, the S-2 coach and the bogies behind it stopped with a jerk. The passengers were frightened by this. The loco pilot informed the control room. Railway staff reached the spot, divided the S-2 coach into two parts and parked the four bogies behind it in the loop line and took the other coaches to the station.
After this, the railway staff vacated the S-2 coach and shifted the passengers to S-1 and other coaches. After removing S-2 coach at 5:48 am, the train left for Jhansi at 7:20 am. When the train reached Jhansi station at 10 am, the S-1 coach was separated from the train. After this, new S-1 and S-2 coaches were installed and sent towards Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 11 am. Railways has ordered an investigation into the reasons behind the breakage of the coupling. The coupling of S-2 coach of Kushinagar Express was broken near Pukhrayan station. Leaving the S-2 coach there, the train was brought to Jhansi and the coaches were changed here. The reasons for the incident are being investigated.
