Desi social media platform KOO has finally shut down. This social media platform emerged as a competitor to Twitter. KOO founders Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka have informed about its closure. At one time, many VIP leaders and ministers used to create KOO accounts.
Due to this KOO was shut down
The founders said the social media platform was shut down due to the failure of partnership talks and high technology costs. The company had started reducing the number of employees from April 2023 itself.
The number of active users reached 1 crore
There was a time when KOO's daily active users reached 21 lakhs. Not only this, the number of monthly active users of the company had increased to more than 1 crore. There were 9 thousand VIP accounts on this platform. This platform was also promoted a lot by politicians. At that time, many leaders and cabinet ministers created their official accounts on KOO. This platform was being promoted as the native Twitter. However, despite this success, the company, which was facing financial problems, had to shut down its business.
Why was the application stopped?
The founders cited costs on technology and a volatile market capitalization as reasons for shutting down the Koo app. Along with this, the founders have also expressed their desire to sell some of the company's assets. A note issued by the founder said, 'We would be happy to share these assets with those who are thinking of doing something good in Indian social media.' However, this platform was in direct competition with Twitter. When Elon Musk bought Twitter, the number of users on this platform increased. The founders wrote, 'We have created a product that can be delivered globally in a short time.' In their farewell, the founders have written a farewell message to supporters, team, investors, creators and users.
