Britain's opposition Labour Party is led by Keir Starmer. 61-year-old Starmer is a lawyer by profession and a former public prosecutor of England and Wales. He is accepting his victory after the public support in the election campaign.

According to the opinion poll, the Conservative Party led by Sunak is ahead in only 155 seats. Whereas in the 2019 elections, the party led by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson won 365 seats. Whereas the Labour Party was given 403 seats in the opinion poll. There are a total of 650 seats in Britain and any party needs more than 325 seats to come to power.
How are elections held in UK?
There are two houses in the British Parliament. One is the House of Lords and the other is the House of Commons. The House of Lords has nothing to do with the general elections. Voters of the country's 650 constituencies elect their representatives or MPs for the House of Commons. These representatives together become the Prime Minister of the country and again form the government by selecting the Prime Minister and ministers.
Just as in India, the Prime Minister is elected from the Lok Sabha MPs, similarly it happens in Britain too. Rajya Sabha is the upper house of India. House of Lords is the upper house of Britain.

This time, the largest number of candidates of Indian origin have entered the electoral fray in Britain. Out of 650 candidates, 107 are of Indian origin. Out of these, 30 candidates are from the Conservative Party. There are 33 candidates from the Labour Party, 13 from the Green Party and 11 from the Liberal Democrats. These include Reva Godi, Nupur Majumdar, Rajesh Agarwal and Mohammad Hanif.
